Ellie told us a little about doing herself a ‘little
Mischief’which resulted in being made a paraplegic below the breast line.
She spend weeks in hospital and at one stage was surrounded by quadriplegics who inspired her to use what she had—her arms.
At Royal Talbot, she was able to learn such things as cooking gardening and playing tennis which helped towards being independent.
Her partner Craig has worked hard with her to enable her to manage at home.
Ellie wanted to thank Rotary and in particular Ian S. for making it possible for her to come home earlier than most patients would have been able to.
Ellie said that she had learned a couple of important things through her experience. One was how easy it was to hurt yourself without really trying and the other was that as long as you wake up on the right side of the grass, you’re OK.
The vote of thanks was made by Ian Sichla
