3 MINUTER - Marj Hamilton.

Marj decided to add to the mystery of the night by describing a person and letting members work out who it was.
They were born at Talbingo in 1879 and moved to Brindabella.
They had littler formal education.
Their writing career continued to develop despite personal hardship.
They travelled to America and England but later returned to Australe.
This person lived in the era of Banjo Patterson and Henry Lawson.
Their first published book was ‘My Brilliant Career’
This person died at 75 years of age in 1954 leaving a legacy in the form of a Literary Prize to the value of 60,0000 dollars annually
We’re talking about Stella Maria Sarah Miles Franklin—known as Miles Franklin.
Today’s talk was to illustrate how far modern society has come in the last century when a woman could not be published (hence she wrote under a male pseudonym)

SURPRISE!
Gary Cocks had tried asking the Murrindindi Film Society to the meeting and to show a film, but they were unable to help, so tonight we were treated to three short Mr Bean movies. Great fun!
Chairman Sam thanked Gary and helpers for organising the film.
