Guest Speaker - Elli Heard Secondary School Nurse
Elli, is employed as a Secondary School Nurse, sharing her role with Yea High School and Alexandra Secondary College. After working in hospital and clinical roles, she is finding it a rewarding position, providing primary prevention, health promotion, supplying resources and classroom support.
Currently the emphasis is drug and alco-hol awareness, using “goggles” and St Johns Ambulance for first aid for party situations. There is a severe shortage of the “goggles” which simulate the effects of difference levels of alcohol and drug use, and Elli is looking at different ways/grants to fund a set to keep at the school., RC of Alexandra has provided the equipment for Alexandra.
It is proven that early education is beneficial, with the hope to mitigate incidents and make students aware to look out for their mates.

3 Minute Speaker - Yea Primary School Principal, Craig Irvine
Craig took the opportunity to do the 3 minute talk, with a thanks to Rotary for support of the school through bursaries and particularly with the financial support to fire families, enabling the purchase of school requisites and uniforms, together with the offer for supplying fire families with bicycles and helmets. Thankyou!
Through the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden and greenhouse, the students have harvested produce to be used for the meal tonight, as well as making the dessert, and tonight we have our school leaders assisting in the kitchen and serving the tables.

President Darryl
• Welcomed guests Elli and Brian Heard.
• The request for volunteers to deliver small water tanks (IBC’s) has been fully subscribed, thanks to members who responded. There will be another lot of tanks arrive in the coming weeks, so there will be a call out for volunteers again.
• Glenda and Darryl logged on to a zoom meeting with DG Emma on Tuesday,
• An email arrived with details of a shower/laundry trailer available on loan from the RC of Lakes Entrance, which would suit needs at the Highlands Hub. We would be required to check and record maintenance required, with all costs to be met by District.
• Water Tank Project—District, with RI funds, has undertaken to purchase and have delivered 19 x 10,000lt water tanks We would be required to work with RC of Alexandra to identify, on advice from the local hubs, the needs and coor-dinate the paperwork for the delivery of the tanks.

Thanks to Yea Primary School for a really delicious meal
