Three Minuter: Peter Tull Peter spoke of a recent trip with Kerry to Texas on the NSW/Queensland border where they visited the Texas Rabbit Works, a refurbished and renovated museum highlighting the importance of the feral rabbit industry both in Texas and in Australia. Between 1930 and 1960 the Texas Rabbit Works were a major employer in the district, processing 600 rabbits a day and sustaining local families. The processing works turned the district’s rabbit problem into an opportunity! When the Tull property was first acquired by the family in 1962 it was infested with rabbits. Peter spent many hours after school ferreting and spotlighting rabbits – selling the rabbits to teachers at the High School and to the middle pub in Yea. It was quite a lucrative hobby for a young lad!
