Guest Speaker—our own Jill Heath
Jill proudly spoke of a photo captured by famous black and white Sydney photographer, Max Dupain, of teenage boys at the Newport sea baths. Unbeknown to her late husband Peter, Dupain photographed him as a tall, lanky teenager, stepping down from the sea baths wall. This photo was included in published and displayed works of Dupain. Peter recognised himself in the photo by the distinct patterned bathers he was wearing. Peter and Jill later met Dupain and received a signed copy of the photo. Jill also realised that the Dupain family were in the same neighbourhood as Jill’s family members who lived in the norther suburbs of Sydney.
Another of Peters’ accomplishments is that he was Under 16 State Tennis Champion for New South Wales.

3 Minute Speaker—Julie Lynch.
Julie spoke of her interest in reading the local notices and newspapers of the areas she and Ian visit. Whilst in Walhalla, Julie picked up a local paper from the west Gippsland area, where an article immediately caught her attention.  A local 100 year old from the Garfield area, who immigrated to Australia from the Netherlands with his family as a young man after enduring the depression and occupation. The family settled as dairy farmers in the Clyde area, and later in Garfield North. He is a long term member of the Garfield Rotary Club and this year has accepted the position of President!
