Guest Speaker - Cucky, Our Exchange Student from Chile, “Life in Australia So Far …..”
Cucky
has many adventures to report back, with many district activities which have helped form lifelong friendships with other inbound students, with highlights being the Tropical Tour, a day at the Australian Open. Tennis tournament and rebound weekends for returning and short term exchange students.
Kristie, Eoghan and family are still her host family, and Christmas holidays were spent caravanning/camping at Balnarring Beach, which was a wonderful new experience. Cucky celebrated Australia Day by turning 17!
Cucky had the opportunity to visit Canberra with the family of rebound student, Edo from Albury, who was hosted in Chile by her family.
Visits to Swan Hill, Bendigo, Albury, Wangaratta, Benalla and Melbourne have all been fun, along with a visit to the Zoo.
Each Wednesday Cucky takes part in the Pottery Club, learning different techniques of pottery. Thanks to Jill and Tippy for initiating this.

3 Minute Speaker - Hennie
Hennie delivered an impromptu 3 minute talk, which had us all captivated. Whilst hiking in the Snowy Mountains, years ago, to visit the crash site of the Southern Cloud, Hennie became separated from her group and was lost for 40 hours in dense Mt Kosciuszko country. After making her way to a river, she waited for help and airlifted out. She was hospitalised for a week, and eternally grateful to SES, police and Forestry for the search and rescue. As a result, Hennie joined the SES for 15 years to return some of what was af-forded to her. While Hennie tells her tale with much humour, I am sure there were times during her ordeal which were very trying.
