Guest Speaker: Anna Paix MSC
Anna provided an update on the Murrindindi Shire Community Planning Pilot Project in which community groups have put forward ideas and identified priorities for their community’s future. The project’s aim is to enhance well being & resilience and strengthen communities by cooperating and working better together. A wish list of over 100 ideas (eg a fenced dog park, recording oral histories, signage for RVs, honouring the Taungurung, electricity micro grid etc) has already been created and the next step over the coming months is to document ideas and write a vision for the community.
Interest in this pilot project was evidenced by the many questions from the members.
100’s of ideas were put forward at the Community Planning Dinners.

Nerissa Carter: Moving Murrindindi Project
Nerissa spoke about this program which assists those in need of transport to medical appointments etc and how our club may be in part a source of the volunteer driver pool.
2 new cars have been purchase by MSC and are located at Yea & Alexandra with an existing car already at Kinglake. Cost to clients will be low, dependent on the distance travelled. Clients will be able to access local, country and metro appointments. The Shire has paired with Community Accessibility to run the program. Information about the program and how to volunteer was made available to members
3 minuter Val Howard.
Val kept us enthralled with a funny story about an incident in a local supermarket when she dropped $20. Despite her protestations, another customer fled with the money claiming ‘Things found on earth are kept by the collector’. Val eventually turned the tables and seemingly ended up victorious. Of course this tale was a total fabrication and definitely failed the 4 Way Test!
